Define the outcome before choosing the tool. Understand who benefits, what success looks like and whether AI belongs in the process at all.
02 Keep private things private.+
Know what information you’re sharing, where it goes and who can access it. Use approved tools and avoid putting sensitive data into a system without understanding its terms and controls.
03 Check what matters.+
Verify consequential claims against reliable sources. Test results with realistic examples. Match the depth of review to the cost of being wrong.
04 Give people the final say.+
Make responsibility explicit. Whoever reviews an output needs the time, knowledge and authority to challenge it—and stop it being used.
05 Stay willing to learn.+
Experience is a starting point, not an exemption from learning. Try things, record what happens, share the limitations and change your mind when the evidence changes.
